The Tenant of Wildfell Hall - Anne Bronte Illustrated - The Crow Emporium Press Edition
Inspirited by the immense beauty of classic books of the past, The Crow Emporium has launched a series of illustrated classic novels.
The Tenant of Wildfell Hall is the astonishing second novel written by Anne Brontë, first published in 1847. Strikingly modern and with a storyline which continues to be relevant today, all our artists were so inspired by the story, characters and Anne Brontë's defense of her novel in the preface to the second publishing that we were able to assemble an incredible group of artists, artisans and musicians to bring you this beautiful illustrated edition.
This edition features the acclaimed artworks by Christina Rauh Fishburne and Kirsty Maclennan who have captured the most iconic moments of the novel and created illustrations which are wonders, all inspired by the Medieval Book of Hours.
The coloured end papers have been drawn by Maria Brunetti who wanted to bring to life the handkerchief believed to have been owned by Anne Bronte, and has created a stunning art piece to frame the book.
The book begins and ends with a handwritten letter by Gilbert Markham created by lettering designer Louie Tilley who recreated the famous crosshatch writing used by the Brontë sisters when corresponding with friends and each other. Delightfully, the envelope for the opening letter has an original postmarked 1800s Victorian Penny Red stamp in each book sold.
417 pages inc 120gsm gloss coloured inserts, 148mm x 210mm. Hardcover. Red clothbound.
